The Uganda Athletics Talent Academy provides life-changing opportunities to individuals and communities through athletic, leadership programs – helping shape the young people of Uganda and the developed world into the leaders of tomorrow.
The Academy provides full coaching, and leadership training for students displaying a natural talent for running and a desire for academic excellence. We aim to further the sporting opportunities for graduating students in Uganda, ultimately leading to collegiate scholarships.

After just 3 training seasons, UATA is now established as the fastest growing sports academy in Uganda. UATA is also one of the sports academies in Uganda training in Athletics disciplines.
Three values guarded jealously at UATA are three keys which open doors to success and fame; Hard work, Discipline and Belief. The robust nature of UATA’s T & D program is defined by its ambitious goals. At all times, the boys and girls are required to showcase their potentials to the fullest, working collectively with team mates to realise established targets.
Global excellence in sports talent development
UATA operates under a club structure system. Athletes compete for their respective clubs in competitions and events organised by UATA. The structure of competition allows for the participation of people of all abilities and interests. This creates a welcoming environment for participation where anyone that has an interest in participating in athletics can be a part of the action.
UATA also offers pathways for more serious athletes who have a desire to compete at national and international level.
Target talent program (Uganda)
Having a well-rounded program centred around Long Term Athlete Development and support, will allow the athlete and their coach to maximize their current practices. The legacy for coach development will enhance the technical knowledge of coaches in providing best practice support networks to further build the talent pool. The program requires athlete and coach engagement.

Our Story
The early stages of UATA all began in 2019 whilst studying a Postgraduate degree in sports management. Although this was thoroughly enjoyable, it proved extremely difficult to find credible information on the African sports market with the majority focused on players of African descent plying their trade abroad; top European leagues or of an underdeveloped continent rife with corruption. There was very few insight and expert opinion on the African sports business market.
With this in mind, UATA was born.
UATA has a desire to be the sports business hub for all African related sports, providing a community for those who wish to help build a sustainable sports economy and portray a true reflection on the growing sports market in Africa.
This is a place where people can come and read key insights and expert opinion on the African sports business market from those on the ground and with the relevant knowledge. We aim to portray the boundless opportunities and obvious barriers on the market, as we play our part in changing the narrative for the better by providing engaging content.
Our community isn’t just for Africans. Schools are very important, because it is through school-sports events that talented kids are detected, and they help promising runners get into proper competitions. But the geographical location matters too. Schools in poor rural areas cannot offer their pupils anything in support, not even track shoes. the talents.
